R.I.P. Dataan

Well, the same session in which Dataan the android finally hit 6th Level is the same session in which he poetically died thwarting the plans of the Knights of Genetic Purity.  I'm sure Carl will post about this in detail on his main Mutant Future blog, but I wanted to mention that I am actually quite pleased by the manner of Dataan's death: he sacrificed himself so that his arch-enemies the KGP's couldn't launch another missile.  In fact, that was a tough battle but I think we achieved what we wanted, and even though I am "between characters" until next session, I think I can suggest that we are in a good position to (a) loot the KGP missile complex and see what else the knights were hiding, not to mention breaking through to our friends the Ooh monks and Flipsham Eggwar, then (b) set up our own HQ from which to launch our next mission -- presumably against Corple.  Anyway, my new character might suggest such things once he appears on the scene next week.

In the meantime, I believe Dataan's hard drive / positronic net survived the blast, so maybe he can be given a second life as an AI or something.  Maybe he could join with Intur Netz and watch over his friends back in the desert forever. . .

  1. Yeah, that was pretty close to a total victory against the Knights. Fifty regular knights, 16 commandoes, 1 Iron Man and 1 Ridiculous Effing War Machine bit the big one. That represents pretty much the entire strength of their local contingent (there is a militia that they had organized back at Spanky Butt, but how enthusiastic those poor bastards are to keep fighting the neo-neo-Nazi fight now that the local leadership is gone remains to be seen). Sure it took four character deaths, but that was a quite a way to go! And at least Dataan didn't die because he was "cutting holes in a helmet" like some people I know...

  2. I agree completely I think we can find Dataan's "Black Box" if you will and Flipsham could upload him to the NET where he will forever be our Oracle. That would be an awesome fate to accompany an awesome ending I agree that Bozko, although now even more Hardened by watching more of his friends die. Would think that Dataan met the ending of a Warrior despite his seemingly non confrontational nature. This may Inspire Bozko to be even more Brazen in his combat techniques. Also Bozko would absolutely and completely agree with Carters new characters Ideas about what to do next should he present them.
